Ready to join the Honors College? To apply, you must complete an Honors College application, which is separate from the application to Murray State. (If you haven’t been accepted to Murray State yet, you can still apply to the Honors College now.) For priority consideration, submit the application and short essay by March 15. Applications submitted after March 15 will be evaluated as there is room in the program.
If you receive the Presidential Fellowship or the Trustees Scholarship, you are automatically accepted and required to participate in the Honors College.
Are You Eligible?
Acceptance to the Honors College is competitive. To apply, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- 28+ cumulative ACT score
- 3.8+ high school GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Top 10% of your graduating high school class
The selection committees consider the whole student — including extracurricular activities, leadership and motivation — when recommending who is accepted.
What About the College Credits You Earned in High School?
You’ve worked hard in high school, and we make sure to honor your accomplishments. That’s why we review each transcript individually to make sure your Advanced Placement or dual enrollment courses that qualify as Honors College seminar classes will count toward your Honors degree.
