Senior Scholars

If you are a senior citizen interested in taking a course at Murray State University, you may be eligible for tuition waivers through our Senior Scholars program.

The eligibility requirements include the following:
1. Age 65 or older at the time of application
2. Copy of Kentucky drivers license 
3. Proof of Kentucky residency for 1 or more years - date issued on KY Driver's License

In order to apply to MSU's Senior Scholars program, please complete the following steps:
1. Complete the Senior Scholars Application.

2. Make a copy of your KY Driver's License.

3. Submit the completed application and copy of driver's license to:

In order to enroll in courses at MSU, please complete the following steps:
1. Upon receiving letter of admission:
     a. Call Alison Marshall at (270) 809-5796 to find out what courses are available for the upcoming semester and to discuss the enrollment and tuition waiver process .
     b. After speaking with Alison, select the class that you wish to take and complete the Course Registration Form.
     c. Contact the class instructor to receive permission to take the class and obtain his/her signature on the form.

2. Bring the completed Course Registration Form to:

Additional steps you should take:
1. Purchase the textbooks needed for the course.
     a. This can be done at the MSU Bookstore • 2nd floor, Curris Center.
     b. Students may also order their textbooks online.

2. Register your vehicle with the MSU Parking Office through the myGate parking channel.  
($100 fee covers August-August parking on campus) For more information about MSU Parking Services, click here.
All students (full-time or part-time, regional, web) who operate a motor vehicle on the MSU campus must properly display a current parking permit. Annual renewal of parking permit is required. Vehicles must be registered within one day after being brought onto campus, excluding weekends and holidays. Registration and parking permits are valid for the fall, spring, and summer sessions. Information required to register vehicle is as follows:

• NAME
• MSU ID OR DRIVER'S LICENSE
• LOCAL ADDRESS
• VEHICLE YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND COLOR
• LICENSE PLATE NUMBER
• STATE AND COUNTY VEHICLE REGISTERED IN

3. Obtain a MSU RacerCard - Your MSU I.D.  in the RacerCard Office  • 1st Floor Curris Center ($20 fee - one time only)
The office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Students should know your M# and bring another photo ID.  For more information about the RacerCard, click here.
