2018 Racer Wellness Pledge

Take the Racer Wellness Pledge and earn $50! To earn the reward employees must complete one of the three options below by October 1, 2018.  The $50 Racer Wellness Pledge is only available to full-time benefits eligible employees. It is NOT available to employees who DECLINE Murray State's health insurance.  Full-time benefits eligible employees who decline CAN still utilize the Susan E. Bauernfeind Wellness Center. Please see below for details.

FAQ's regarding the Racer Wellness Pledge

Criteria for program

  • Take the pledge and receive $50 in January.
    • If enrolled in a HDHP plan, the $50 will be deposited in your  HSA account.
    • If enrolled in a PPO plan, the $50 will be discounted from your January health insurance premium
  • Complete one of the three options by October 1, 2018.

If you fail to complete an option, there is a $60 penalty  assessed through a  $30 per month ($15 per BW check) payroll deduction in both November and December.

Spouse and dependent access to Susan E Bauernfeind Center is not available with the pledge.  Spouse and dependents can apply for a membership.

Voya Wellness Benefits

Wednesday, February 28: Curris Center Barkley Room | 12pm - 12:45pm

  • Learn how to claim your wellness money from Allstate and Voya!
  • Bring your lunch to the Curris Center while taking the class.
  • HR will do a brief presentation on the steps necessary to turn in Wellness Claims on your 2017 Allstate plans and/or your 2018 Voya plans. We will allow time after to walk you through it step-by-step. 
  • Sign-in sheets will be available for Wellness Pledge credit.

 Blue Zones

Wednesday, April 25: Curris Center Barkley Room | 12pm - 12:45pm

Blue Zones are five areas of the world, designated by National Geographic, where people live longer and healthier than they do in other parts of the world. Please join us for a discussion about the concepts of Blue Zones, the common characteristics, Blue Zone Study Abroad programs, and how applying the Blue Zone Power 9 can contribute to health and longevity.

  • Bring your lunch to the Curris Center while taking the class.
  • Sign-in sheets will be available to receive Wellness Pledge credit.

Spring Health Mini Fair: 

The Spring Health Fair will look different this year! Racer Wellness will be offering two "mini" Fairs on different days, times, and locations, with the hope of providing more an opportunity to take advantage of this free benefit. Each Fair will offer a total cholesterol screening (please fast for 12 hours prior), blood sugar, heel scan screening, blood pressure, BMI, waist circumference, and education.

  • Sign-in sheets will be available for Wellness Pledge credit
  • Date: Tuesday, May 1 | 4pm - 6pm

Healthy Lifestyles Challenge:

  • More information coming soon! This challenge will take place online Healthy Lifestyles.
  • Proof of participation will be obtained from Healthy Lifestyles for  Wellness Pledge credit. 

Racer Wellness group fitness class:

  • Attend a minimum of one Racer Wellness group fitness class.
  • Classes are offered several days/times per week. View the Spring 2018 class schedule.
  • To receive Wellness Pledge credit for this, please email lsmee@murraystate.edu with the name and date of the class attended within 5 days of completing the class.
  • All classes have sign-in sheets which will serve as proof of attendance for the Wellness Pledge credit

 Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Soft Skills Course:

Well-Being Assessment (WBA) Sweepstakes:

  • Complete the WBA during the Sweepstakes: 1.1.18 - 2.28.18 by going to Healthy Lifestyles
  • Proof of participation will be obtained from Healthy Lifestyles for  Wellness Pledge credit.

Program options

Freedom from smoking:

Weekly on Tuesday's | 12:30pm - 1:30pm | Location: TBD | March 6 - April 17

Racer Wellness will be offering a Freedom From Smoking  class to Murray State employees and spouses. This is for someone who is READY to quit using tobacco products, not merely contemplating.  The class is 9 sessions that meet in an 8 week period. Participants must be at ALL classes in order to successfully complete the class.  If there is not enough participation or people drop throughout the duration, the class could be cancelled. Any employee who is incurring the monthly Tobacco Surcharge and successfully completes the class will have it removed and will be refunded back to January 2018.

Completing the Well-Being Assessment

    • Visit the Healthy Lifestyles website: https://myhealthylifestyles.embrace.healthways.com/healthways/login 
      Login or click on ”sign up” if you have not created an account before (if it has been more than 30 days since you last logged in, you will have to answer several questions regarding your personal health journey before being able to proceed in the site).
    • Click on ”Resources and Tools”
    • Click on ”Assessments and Reports”
    • Click on ”take the Well-Being Assessment” (WBA) and begin.
    • You will need to allow approximately 20 minutes to take the WBA and will need information such as: Weight, height, blood pressure and cholesterol numbers.
    • Click submit upon completion and you will be complete.

Full-time benefits eligible employees who do NOT enroll in Murray State health insurance view step-by-step directions  for completing the WBA.  

Human Resources will receive reports with the names of persons having completed the WBA in order to verify your eligibility for the Susan E. Bauernfeind Wellness Center Employee Access Program. As a reminder, all private health information disclosed in the WBA is completely confidential to Healthy Lifestyles.

Maintain an average of one time per week  usage during the time periods 1.1.2018 - 6.1.2018 and 8.1.2018 - 10.1.2018

 In order to maintain your Pledge and Wellness Center Employee Access you need to do the following: Maintain an average of 1 visit per week to the Susan E. Bauernfeind Wellness Center.

Human Resources staff will obtain usage reports from the Wellness Center. Reports will include usage from January 1, 2018 – May 31, 2018 for the June 1 report and August 1, 2018 – September 30, 2018 for the October 1 report. Employees should show a minimum of 22 visits for the June 1 report and a minimum of 9 visits for the October 1 report.

After completing the WBA, employees must sign up for their Racer Wellness Pledge Membership to the Wellness Center. Please note, the membership is a taxable benefit. This process can be done online or in person. The process must be completed by January 1, 2018.

Online process

  • Go to https://campusrecconnect.murraystate.edu/Home/About.
  • Click on “log in”.
  • Click the blue MyGate button.
  • Log in using your MyGate log in.
  • Click "membership".
  • Click “Racer Wellness Pledge Membership”.
  • Select “semester”
  • Add to your cart.
  • A liability waiver will pop up. Follow all steps given to complete the process.

In-Person Process

  • Visit the Wellness Center Front Desk ( View hours of operation )
  • Ask to sign up for the Racer Wellness Pledge Membership

    Access to the Wellness & Recreation Center will be available through your Racer Card on January 1, 2018.

Employees may monitor their Wellness Center usage by doing the following:

  1. Visit https://campusrecconnect.murraystate.edu/Home 
  2. Click on the blue myGate button
  3. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner
  4. Click:
             - Profile
             - Facilities
             - Access history (note that you will only be able to access the last 30 days of usage)

    A membership fee of $25.00 will be required to use the Wellness Center during the summer months (6/1/18 – 7/31/18).
